Family Day a Snowtorious Smash!
The Downtown Moose Jaw Association’s first ever Family Day event was a fun, frosty, Snowtorious success! The DMJA celebrated Family Day (Monday, February 20) with a winter event filled with free food and activities in Crescent Park.
There are multiple reasons Crescent Park was the preferred location for the DMJA’s inaugural Snowtorious Family Day, including the feeling that our downtown jewel may be under-appreciated and under-utilized in the winter months.
Crescent Park provided the perfect backdrop for all of the fun, including horse-drawn wagon rides, snow painting, outdoor games, street hockey on Langdon Crescent and the free hot dogs/hot chocolate.
Despite starting the day with wind chills around -20, several hundred people showed up, making all of the time, effort and planning more than worthwhile.
It was a total team effort by the DMJA Board, and we couldn’t have done it without our Notoriously Generous sponsors (Moose Jaw Co-op, Tim Hortons, Moose Jaw Kinsmen Club, Tunnels of Moose Jaw and the City of Moose Jaw) or volunteers. Over 20 international students from the Sask Polytech Business course put on their warmest clothes and put in a lot of hours to help everything run smoothly.
We also thank the Moose Jaw Public Library and Moose Jaw Museum & Art Gallery for opening their doors to provide even more activities.
Stay tuned – planning for the 2nd Snowtorious Family Day will begin soon.
